I put the below information up on the Web only hoping that somebody with the ability to get this information to the correct people will procure a copy of this pamphlet from GE and distribute it to the correct people.
I was cleaning up things around the house and putting stuff up on Ebay when I came across this Book. It was from my neighbors Garage or Workshop. He used to be in the space program. I was going to put this up for sale on Ebay but then decided to read it. I think it pretty much sums our problems of today up in one small book of about 20 pages. It was written when Richard Nixon was president about 1973, and at the end of the manned space flight program to reach the moon. It is titled: "for the benefit of all mankind" I won't go into detail except to say that the leaders of today should read this, at it was written over 30 years ago but explains why we are in the mess we are in. I am sure there are many copies available especially since it was so involved with budgets etc. It also explains a way out of this mess but, only someone in a position of political power can make any difference. I will print one paragraph here. "The leadership position of the United States in the world today did not happen by accident. Two factors have contributed significantly to the emergence as a world leader -- our belief in the rewards of exploration and our investments in science and technology -- in the areas of medicine, surgery, biology, transportation, electricity and electronics, physics, communications, manufacturing, education, chemistry, aerospace, and so on." The book goes on to explain how technology somehow is becoming a dirty word in some areas of this society ie "less money for technology and more money for social purposes." It gives a history of nations that have followed this same path, and all have ended up the same way. That way is where we are headed right now. It was put out by General Electric and for additional copies it says to contact: Urban and public affairs planning, AEROSPACE GROUP, General Electric Company, Post Office Box 8555 Philadelphia, Pennsylvania 19101 Remember this was written over 35 years ago.
